The Founding Years

Established over five decades ago, Minor Basilica and Shrine Parish of St. Paul of the Cross was founded as a beacon of Catholic faith in Marikina. From humble beginnings, it laid the groundwork for a thriving spiritual community.

Life of Our Patron: St. Paul of the Cross

Early Life & Calling

The eighty-one years of this Saint's life were modelled on the Passion of Jesus Christ. A vision of a scourge with "love" on its lashes assured him of his thirst for penance, and a voice from the Tabernacle warned him to serve Christ alone and found a congregation in His honor.

Founding the Passionists

At his Bishop's command, he began to preach the Passion. After many trials and a delay of seventeen years, Papal approbation was obtained, and the first house of the Passionists was opened on Monte Argentario, a spot which Our Lady had pointed out.

A Life of Devotion

He chose a heart with three nails as his Order's badge and branded the Holy Name on his side. Through fifty years of incessant bodily pain, he read the love of Jesus everywhere and died whilst the Passion was being read to him on October 18, 1775.

Our Mission

To proclaim the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments, and serve the people of God with compassion, love, and faithfulness, fostering a community rooted in Christ’s teachings.

Our Vision

A vibrant parish family where faith is lived, hope is shared, and love is expressed through worship, service, and fellowship, guided by the example of St. Paul of the Cross.

Our Clergy & Leadership

Serving faithfully to guide our community closer to Christ.
